It’s that time of year again- when I fill my calendar to the brim with all the fun things this holiday season has to offer. I wear myself out running from event to party to festival because they only come around once a year, and Christmastime is simply not the same without them. So let me share some of the most fun events that are coming up in the Tulsa area so that you, too, can share in these joyous occasions!
First, Rhema Bible Church kicks off their Christmas Lights Extravaganza next Wednesday, November 27th at dusk. This dazzling display of twinkling lights is a nightly, free attraction open to the public through January 1st. You can stroll or drive through their campus. On certain dates and for a small cost, you and your loved ones can travel through the acres of lights on a dreamy horse-drawn carriage ride. This spot is definitely one not to be missed!

Next up, the Philbrook Museum’s “Festival of Trees” kicks off this Saturday, December 23rd from 10am-5pm, followed by the Garden Glow. This beautiful and festive Tulsa tradition is so fun for the whole family, with crafts for the kids, pictures with Santa, artistic Christmas trees to view, and the museum’s infamous gardens aglow. And best of all… it’s free and open to all!

Next week, after you’ve stuffed yourself with turkey, mashed potatoes and… stuffing, head on over to Utica Square for their “Lights On!” ceremony! It is the evening of Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28th at 6:30. Get there early to enjoy the decorations around the upscale shopping center, sip some hot chocolate, sing along with some entertainment before Santa arrives to flip the switch to hundreds of thousands of lights around the Square!

A couple of days later, on the appropriate date of Small Business Saturday, peruse all the lovely goods at the handmade arts and crafts show – The Alliday Show! On Saturday, November 30th from 9am-5pm at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, you can get a jump start on crossing things off of those Christmas lists with the talent of these local crafters.

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to take a spin around the ‘ol ice rink at WinterFest 2013! Such a fun time to strap on some ice skates and couple skate at the outdoors rink with a beautiful view of Downtown Tulsa!
